Winter Storm Blast

A weather advisory has been posted for all of the Triangle area and for most of North Carolina. A large winter storm is moving through Friday evening. Snow, sleet and ice is expected.
We are advising residents to please be cautious on the upper level of the parking deck.
How do you plan on spending the weekend? Is anyone sledding? I would personally love to cozy-up with a cup of hot chocolate and maybe make a snowman with my daughter. We’ll have to see how much snow actually accumulates and if the weather will lighten-up enough for us to play outside.
For the latest info, check here. Have a great and safe weekend!
Funny Friday

I found this website with tons of funny jokes. Here’s one to share.
A woman awakes during the night to find that her husband was not in their bed.
She puts on her robe and goes downstairs to look for him. She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in front him. He appears deep in thought, just staring at the wall. She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of coffee.
“What’s the matter, dear?” she whispers as she steps into the room. “Why are you down here at this time of night?”
The husband looks up, “Do you remember 20 years ago when we were dating, and
you were only 17?” he asks solemnly.
The wife is touched thinking her husband is so caring and sensitive. “Yes, I do,” she replies.
The husband pauses. The words are not coming easily. “Do you remember when
you father caught us in the back seat of my car?”
“Yes, I remember,” says the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.
The husband continues…”Do you remember when he shoved a shotgun in my face and said, “Either you marry my daughter, or I will send you to jail for 20 years”.
“I remember that too”, she replies softly.
He wipes another tear from his cheek and says… “I would have gotten out today!”

Eastern Carolina has a new coach and he says it’s his dream job.
Ruffin McNeill spoke at a press conference announcinghis new position as head coach of ECU. McNeill who is originally from Eastern North Carolina, has been at Texas Tech for the past ten years. It must be amazing for him to be coaching at his alma mater.
You can read more information here. Do we have any ECU alumni here at The Apartments at Arboretum?
Worldly Salaries

Sometimes it’s nice to see how people in other countries live. I found this article about the salaries of 5 different women from around the world and what they spend their money on.
I think the most interesting was the woman in Egypt who takes home only $14,700 a year, as a broadcast journalist and publicist! It’s a good thing her rent is only $160 a month.
Have you ever worked outside of the U.S.? How did your salary compare?
High Calories At Your Favorite Restaurants
If you are looking to start off the year right, then you should probably stay away from these foods. I have to admit everything on this list is a favorite for me. I actually just visited Chili’s last Friday. I didn’t get the meal on this list, bit I am sure I got something that is pretty close in calories.
This list alone will be a shocker and may get you on the right path if you are not already there. It certainly woke me and now I know what my body is taking in, I am less likely to eat these foods.
Check out the shocking list here.
Weight Loss In The Middle Ages

I found this quote appropriate for the New Year. Since it’s the “New Year, New Year” time, I thought I would give you some encouragement to keep you on track with your diets or lifestyle changes.
In the Middle Ages, they had guillotines, stretch racks, whips and chains. Nowadays, we have a much more effective torture device called the bathroom scale. ~Stephen Phillips

Even though lots of people expressed that they did not want them this year, they still got them. As a matter of fact, more than 5 billion people that receive them each year usually do not use them, but why? Mainly because people forget that they have them.
For the record, I usually spend the very next day, so mine are always used to the penny. Here are some ways to get the most out of your gift card.
Worst Movies Of The Decade

I love this time of year when we are able to look back. I have always enjoyed the time at the end of a decade when the “best of the decade” lists come out. Yet, I have a special place in my heart for those that have the “worst of the decade” lists. A list of those bad things that you are happy that you have forgotten just makes me smile. I was recently reminded of some on the worst from the 90’s like Vanilla Ice, Informer, and Macarena. All I could do was smile. Did you? Well here are a few movies you were happy to forget but need one more smile.
What was the worst movie of the past decade?
